Estate administration
Tenancy, releases, localisation and the platform conventions behind every application.
Tenancy
Each tenant runs its own instance of an application, with its own database, users and configuration. Instances of the same product share code and therefore behave identically, but they never share data, and a user in one is not a user in another.
Releases
Applications carry a release number shown in the interface footer. Release notes for each product are on its What's New page.
Time zones and dates
Timestamps are stored once, in UTC, and converted for display to the time zone on the user's profile. Calendar dates such as an invoice date or a posting date are deliberately not converted: they must read the same for everyone, in every country, or the same invoice would appear to be dated differently in two offices.
Language
The interface language follows the user profile. Changing it applies everywhere that person signs in, rather than per device.
Documents
Files attached to records are held outside the database and streamed back through the application, so the same permission that governs the record governs its attachments.
Audit
Sign-ins, permission changes and document decisions are recorded with the actor, the time and the address the request came from. Audit records are written as the event happens rather than reconstructed afterwards.
